Settings
Set the defaults for new profiles
Profile Preferences decides what every new profile in a workspace starts with: group, tags, proxy, browser version, fingerprint choices and bookmarks.
Guide · 1 min read
If most of your new profiles go to the same group, use the same proxy or need the same bookmarks, set that once here instead of in every Create profile form. The defaults belong to the workspace, on this computer.
1. Open Profile Preferences
- Choose Settings in the sidebar, then Profile Preferences.
What you should see
Three tabs: General, Fingerprint and Bookmarks.
2. General
- Group and Tags: where new profiles go and the labels they get.
- Proxy: the proxy new profiles use, from your Proxies library, or none.
- Pages: what a new profile opens on start.
- Hardware acceleration and Launch arguments: advanced browser options; leave them as they are unless support asked you to change them.
3. Fingerprint
- Browser version: which Orbit version new profiles run. PowerOps default is the current recommended one.
- Region, Screen, Language and Timezone behavior: the defaults a new profile's device identity is generated from.
- More fingerprint options: CPU cores and memory, graphics, WebRTC, WebGPU, Do Not Track and media devices. PowerOps default is the right choice for almost everyone.
4. Bookmarks
- Pick a template under Edit template, or choose New template.
- Add bookmarks and folders, or Import HTML to bring in bookmarks exported from Chrome.
- Turn on Use for new profiles to make it the default template.
5. Save
Choose Save at the bottom. Discard changes puts back what was saved; Reset defaults returns every choice to PowerOps default.
What you should see
The next profile you create starts with these choices already filled in. You can still change any of them in the Create profile form.
- Create many profiles at onceBatch create makes up to a hundred new profiles from one form, each with its own device identity. Import profiles brings in profiles described in a file, with their accounts, cookies and proxies.Next guide
